当地时间8日，美国一家新闻调查机构发布的报告显示，美国一些顶级富豪有数年没有缴纳任何的联邦所得税。
新闻机构ProPublica从匿名来源获得了美国国税局超过15年的数据，其中涉及数千名最富有美国人的纳税申报表。
ProPublica指出，和普通家庭基于传统工资缴税不同，亿万富豪们可以利用多种避税策略。另外，富豪的财富当中有很大一部分股票和房地产，只要这些资产不被卖出交易，就不属于需要缴税的收入。
2014年到2018年，巴菲特的个人财富增长了243亿美元，但其报告的应纳税收入只有1.25亿美元，缴纳的联邦收入税合计只有2370万美元，实际税率只有0.1%。世界首富、亚马逊创始人贝佐斯的财富增长了990亿美元，但应纳税收入只有42.2亿美元，合计缴税9.73亿美元，实际税率则不到1%。另外，在2007年和2011年，贝佐斯没有缴纳任何联邦收入税。特斯拉创始人马斯克的财富增长了139亿美元，但应纳税收入只有15.2亿美元，合计缴纳联邦税4.55亿美元，实际税率3.27%。2018年马斯克未缴纳任何联邦收入税。
作为对比，近年来，美国中等家庭年收入约为70000美元，但这些家庭缴纳了14%的联邦税。今年，收入超过628300美元的夫妻所得税率最高，达到37%。
《纽约时报》8日报道称，美国国税局局长查尔斯·雷蒂格在参议院听证会上称，对ProPublica是否违法获得数据的调查已经开始。
