美元指数(90.7431, 0.0252, 0.03%)走势疲弱，截至北京时间5月13日，仍在90关口徘徊。
其实，自2020年以来，美联储QE，美国财政部进行大规模财政刺激，导致的后果开始显现：CPI数据走高，美元购买力走低。美元购买力目前已经降至近百年以来最低点，不断突破记录，但还没有“触底”。
美国劳工统计局的数据显示，美国CPI 4月环比增长0.8%，近三个月上升了1.7%，年化增长率达到7%！
与此同时，4月份“消费美元”的购买力比3月份下降了1.1%，年化降幅达到12%，不断突破纪录低点。过去三个月，消费美元的购买力下降了2.1%，创下2007年以来最大的三个月跌幅。按年计算，“在这三个月里，美元的购买力以每年8.4%的速度下降”。
事实上，美元的购买力在最近100多年里一直呈现下降趋势。
1913年，《联邦储备法》赋予联邦储备银行管理货币供应的能力，以确保经济稳定。随着更多的美元进入流通领域，商品和服务的平均价格上升，而美元的逐年购买力下降。到了1929年，美国的CPI比1913年高出73%！
1913年，一美元可以买30块好时巧克力。而现在，一美元只够买10卷厕纸。
美元购买力并不是直线下降的。
在1929-1933年间，由于通货紧缩和31%的货币供应量收缩，美元的购买力增加了；在2008年，美元购买力也出现短暂的回升。
1944年，美元以每盎司35美元的汇率与黄金挂钩，成为布雷顿森林协定下的世界储备货币。与此同时，美国增加了货币供应量，以弥补二战后朝鲜战争和越南战争的赤字。因此，美元的购买力从1944年的20瓶可口可乐下降到1964年的一张免下车电影票。
到了20世纪60年代末，流通中的美元数量过高，与美国黄金储备完全不匹配了。美元金本位制宣告瓦解，同时也结束了对印刷美元数量的限制。美元购买力下降不再受到束缚。
即便已经出现如此大的降幅，美元的购买力现在还远未触底。
货币超发是美元购买力疲软的根本原因。在过去的20年里，美国的货币供应量（M2）急剧上升，从2000年的4.6万亿美元上升到2021年的19.5万亿美元。2008年的金融危机和最近的新冠大流行进一步放大了货币供应量上升的影响。
事实上，仅在2020年，就创造了约20%的货币供应量，即3.4万亿美元。印钱上瘾，是美元购买力下降也“成瘾”。
美元购买力与CPI呈负相关。目前来看，尽管今年4月CPI 同比增长达到了4.2%，但诸多迹象表明，通胀数据和真实的通胀水平之间后较大差距。
细分来看，美国CPI数据中，服务业占据了三分之二。其中包括许多正在飙升的大宗商品，如住房、医疗和保险。住房成本，即租金和住房拥有成本之和，占整个CPI的三分之一。住房通胀是CPI中最大的一类。
相比劳工部的统计方法，Case-Shiller 房价指数更能反映当前美国住房成本，因为它比较了同一房子的价格如何随时间变化，因此是一个很好的衡量房价通货膨胀的指标。Case-Shiller 房价指数四月飙升了1.1%，同比上涨了12%。
而美国劳工部的房屋拥有率通胀只有2.4%，这是美国CPI数据现在看起来还不那么恐怖的一个原因。
CPI 中其他数据有没有被“低估”的地方呢？
4月份服务业（减去能源服务业）CPI 环比上涨了0.5%，折合年率为6%。耐用品CPI，即汽车、家电、消费类电子产品等耐用品的价格在4月份环比上涨了3.5%，折合年化增长率为42%。与去年4月相比，耐用品CPI上涨7.3%！非耐用品CPI 4月份环比上涨0.6%，折合年化增长率为7.5%，同比上涨6.5%。
CPI 偏离现实的地方在意，人们“享乐质量”调整了。比如服务业、耐用品和非耐用品在长期以来被扭曲了。
如下图，在1985年将服务业、耐用品和非耐用品CPI设定为100。耐用品价格长期是下降，最近几个月才大幅上涨。以二手车为例，二手车价格暴涨，尽管享乐质量调整。耐用消费品CPI环比上涨了10.4%，主要原因就是二手车涨价太猛。
但一格惊人的事实是，二手车的实际价格在最近20年里是一直上涨的。但是耐用消费品CPI却在最近20年里一直处于低位。也就是说，CPI 数据的包含的种类和比重，和实际消费偏好已经不匹配了，CPI数据尽管已经暴涨，但还没有反应真实的通胀水平。
换言之，美元的购买力比想象中更低，且还有继续走低的巨大可能性。
