在美国财长耶伦闹出暗示联储会加息但又紧急澄清的“乌龙”后，又一位美联储高官释放近期加息和缩减QE可能性低的信号。
美联储理事、任内拥有联储货币政策委员会FOMC永久投票权的布雷纳德（Lael Brainard）当地时间本周二在线上活动中表示，
美国的经济“前景是光明的，但风险仍存在，我们远未达到目标。要在专注于实现我们指引中的充分就业和通胀结果上保持耐心，这将非常重要。”
布雷纳德认为，美联储必须展示持续的耐心，因为后新冠疫情时期的经济繁荣存在扭曲，实际上经济还远未达到联储的目标水平。
“在经济道路上，现在的不确定性超过正常时期。对FOMC来说，基于实际结果的政策比基于预期的政策更适合。”
布雷纳德指出，不论是劳动力市场，还是商品与服务市场，都需要时间来化解一些摩擦，以及缓和对通胀持续上升的担忧。
“通胀的实质性持续升高不仅需要薪资或物价在复工后一段时间内上涨，还需要普遍预期，它们会继续以持久加快的速度上涨。在有限时间内与疫情相关的涨价不可能长久改变通胀的动态。”
布雷纳德还提到，通胀的风险有两方面，有可能重演近几十年的长期低通胀形势。在复工之后，需要强劲的深层动力去实现美联储前瞻指引的结果。
她指出，芯片等方面的输入存在瓶颈，这限制了汽车等行业的招工和生产。目前还存在一些就业方面的阻碍，比如4月末的调查显示，在18岁到64岁的国民之中，不到四分之一完成了疫苗接种，对需要和人接触的工作以及依赖公共交通的工作而言，健康和安全仍是很重要的关注点，育儿仍是很多父母的挑战。
事实上，在上周爆出耶伦暗示加息给市场当头一棒之前，美联储近几个月一直传递保持当前超级宽松的信息。
今年3月美联储会后更新的利率点阵图显示，联储大多数官员预计，直到2023年末，都将保持目前的近零利率不变。4月的美联储会议声明承认新冠疫苗接种推动经济走强，但认为通胀上升时源于暂时的因素，并且指出最受疫情打击的行业还疲软。声明重申了去年9月以来的利率前瞻指引，容许“在一段时间内实现通胀适度高于2%，以便让一段时间内的平均通胀达到2%”。美联储主席鲍威尔在会后的新闻发布会上称，目前不是沟通缩减QE的时候，经济距离取得进一步进展还有很长的路要走，通胀临时上扬不能保证会加息。
其中美联储二把手、联储副主席克拉里达认为，现在不是谈论缩减购债的时候。美联储理事鲍曼预计，通胀今后几个月会超过2%，但持续超标的风险很小。
今年拥有FOMC投票权的芝加哥联储主席埃文斯当时称，不急于讨论缩减QE，通胀不太可能失控。明年轮值拥有FOMC投票权的克利夫兰联储主席梅斯特称，通胀今年会超过联储目标2%，明年会回落，这种通胀上升不符合加息要求。明年拥有FOMC投票权的波士顿联储主席罗森伯格称，通胀加快回升是暂时的，讨论缩减QE时机还不成熟。
