环球时报消息，印度新冠疫情日益严峻，单日确诊人数持续超过30万例。外界总结印度疫情恶化的原因时，除了提到印度政府对人员聚集的管控不力外，也提到当地出现的新冠变异病毒。印度《金融快报》26日就表示，除了造成当前印度疫情大暴发的双重变异病毒外，印度多地还出现三重变异病毒。外界担心，如果印度疫情得不到控制，会不会有更多变异病毒出现？
据介绍，2020年10月在印度检出的B.1.617变异毒株在当前印度新确诊病例中的比例已经超过70%，并传播到20多个国家。它同时带有两种突变，可能在传播性和致病性上更强。更让人担心的是，目前还出现了三重变异病毒。
但业内专家普遍认为，变异病毒并非造成印度疫情失控的主要原因。武汉大学医学部病毒学研究所教授杨占秋27日告诉《环球时报》记者，除非能证明印度不同地区的疫情激增都是由同一种变异病毒引起的，且该变异病毒的传播力和致病性都很强，才能下此结论。然而目前还没有充足的证据能证明这一点。中国疾病预防控制中心副主任冯子健接受媒体采访时也表示，变异病毒跟印度这波疫情具体有何关系、影响多大？现在仍在评估中。上海市传染病与生物安全应急响应重点实验室主任张文宏也认为，印度流行病毒株出现了双突变，但不是此次疫情完全失控的原因。
但杨占秋警告说，病毒发生变异后，现有疫苗变得无效或效果减弱的可能性也是完全存在的。他表示，目前印度变异病毒在多个位点发生突变，如果变异病毒的变化范围很小，暂时还不会对疫苗效力造成影响，但随着时间发展，如果出现变异范围很大的变异病毒，甚至发展成一个新的病毒亚型，现有疫苗可能就没效了。
他表示，我国现在用于接种的国产新冠疫苗主要是传统的灭活疫苗，为更有效地应对当下全球疫情形势，我们有必要针对世界不同地区不同类型的病毒或者变异病毒开展重组疫苗或基因工程疫苗的研究，像“搭积木”一样，使我们的疫苗能应对不同类型的病毒组合。
即便从防止更多变异病毒出现的角度出发，尽早扑灭印度疫情也同样关乎全球利益。杨占秋表示，对于印度来说，当务之急是切断人与人之间的传播，做好隔离措施。他认为印度目前面临的情况，必须集中全国的力量加以应对，如果印度做不到，各国应为印度提供有力的物资援助。
杨占秋还表示，如果印度疫情持续，扩散到中国的可能性也是存在的，但“中国不可能出现类似印度这样的疫情暴发”，因为中国有很好的管理及监控措施。
